August 17th 2018 Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) Presentation: A Harm Reduction Response

Monroe County Courthouse
August 17th
Nat Hill Room
12:15pm-1pm

Join us for a short presentation about Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion, a pre-arrest diversion harm reduction program will be presented in the Nat U Hill room .

In LEAD, instead of arresting people whose low level crimes are related to issues poverty, mental health or drug use, law enforcement officers divert them to community-based services – including housing, healthcare, job training, treatment and mental health support. In contrast to most criminal justice system approaches, LEAD uses harm reduction principles. Independent case managers set goals with participants that are meaningful to the participants and reduce the harmful impact of their behaviors on themselves and others.
